So who is behind this guide to backpacking around Australia? My name is Colm Hanratty (I'm in the middle of that gang somewhre!). I lived in Australia for a year, spending most of my time in Sydney, and then took three months out (after lots of work) to chill, catch rays and get the beers in at various spots around Australia. At the moment I reside in a town called Drogheda in Ireland.

Living In Sydney:
During my year in Australia I spent most of my time living in Bondi, Sydney. I looked at a lot of apartments, had a lot of jobs, and picked up a lot of good pointers. For loads of tips about travelling to Australia, have a good read of the tips page. If you want to know a good boozer to down a few coldies in, or which hostels and activities are best, check out different pages for various stops.

Travelling:
After living in Sydney for over 8 months, I spent about two months travelling around Australia. A lot could have happened since I was there, so if I say that a hostel you liked was rubbish, or if a price is wrong, e-mail and let me know.
