Oztrek.com's Kakadu pages are where you can read reviews of hostels in Kakadu, check out what are the best things for backpackers to do there and find out what are Kakadu's best backpacker bars and clubs. Once you have read hostel reviews and picked the hostel you wish to stay in, this is where to come to find out what to do next! Ever thought about getting in a 4WD and driving around Wales for three days? Probably not. In Kakadu National Park, which is the same size as Wales, you don't notice the three days go and, if anything, three days isn't enough. Like some other places in Australia, Kakadu is World Heritage Listed. What makes Kakadu different from the others is that it has been listed for both cultural and natural heritage - something which is very rare. The park covers almost 20,000 square kms and has traditional lands of various Aboriginal clan groups. The word Kakadu itself comes from an Aboriginal floodplain language called Gagudju. Although this language is not spoken any more, ancestors from these language groups still live in Kakadu and over one third of the park rangers there are Aboriginal.
