Telephone Calls:

The main operators down under are Telstra and Optus. Australia offers some of the lowest prices for international calls around the world. However, when it comes to local and mobile calls they are up there among the most expensive. Local calls from telephone boxes cost 40c.

Tip: When making international phone calls from a phone box using a phone card, put 40c in to the public phone and call the 1300 number instead of using the freefone 1800 number. This way your phone card will go a lot further.
